Dr. Bruce Hubbard

  • World Renowned Tinnitus Expert

  • Board Certified Cognitive Behavioral Psychologist

  • Visiting Scholar, Columbia University

  • Person who thrives with loud, high-pitched tinnitus

I was an experienced clinical psychologist when I developed loud, high-pitched tinnitus and hyperacusis (sound sensitivity). (See Dr. Hubbard's Tinnitus Story). After many months of suffering, I was encouraged to learn that Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), the treatment for stress and trauma I’d practiced my entire career, is the gold-standard treatment for tinnitus.

But finding a qualified expert proved impossible. Equipped with my own expertise in CBT, and having read everything I could about tinnitus, I guided myself through a successful course of CBT, including mindfulness and self-guided sound therapy. Since then I’ve helped over a thousand others achieve high levels of habituation and resume, valued lives with tinnitus.

I’ve published articles, podcasts and webinars with organizations like the American Tinnitus Association and the Anxiety and Depression Association of America. I’ve taught Cognitive Behavior Therapy at New York University Medical Center, Icahn School of Medicine, and since 2002, Columbia University. My mission now is to help people adapt and habituate to tinnitus.
